Mr. Churchill Daniels, Principal
Churchill Daniels comes to District 130 with 16 years of experience in public education, both as a teacher and a building administrator. He was born and raised in Evanston, and returned to start his career as a fourth-grade teacher in Evanston/Skokie School District 65. He later taught sixth-and seventh-grade language arts, reading and social studies.
In 2004, Daniels became the interim assistant principal of Chute Middle School in District 65, and the following year he was named assistant principal of Oakton Elementary School. In 2007, he became the principal of Oakton, a position he held for eight years. He has spent the past school year as the assistant principal of Bryant Elementary School in Harvey School District 152.
Daniels holds a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Illinois State University and a master’s degree in educational leadership from National-Louis University.
His parents were born in Cuba, so his first language was Spanish. As a Cuban of African-American decent, being bilingual provided many opportunities as he traveled throughout his career. It also allowed him to forge long-lasting relationships across various cultures, races and backgrounds. Daniels said he is looking forward to building many more relationships with the students, staff, parents and guardians of Nathan Hale Intermediate, and to call District 130 his "second home."
